Distribution and Habitat: Kudus are distributed throughout south and east Africa. The southern population is more dense than the others. This species prefers areas where they can shelter and hide, such as tall shrubs and very high vegetation.
Diet: Kudus are herbivorous animals, feeding on a wide variety of leaves, grass, fruits, flowers and lush pastures.
Reproduction: Kudus’ reproduction is seasonal, usually between February and June. The gestation period lasts about nine months and weaning occurs at six months of age. For the first two weeks of life, the calf remains hidden, only then joins the group.
Behaviour: Males and females only join together in the mating season. There is no evidence that kudus are aggressive animals in the wild, but they may be in captivity. Fights between males always take place with animals of the same size.
